How this site is funded

The Lawn Guide is funded by affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly what that means and how it affects what you read here.

What is an affiliate link?

Many of the product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one and go on to buy something from the retailer, we earn a small commission on the sale. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.

We work with retailers and affiliate networks including Amazon Associates UK, Awin, Commission Junction (CJ), and direct programmes with UK lawn care brands. Specific retailers we may earn commission from include Amazon, Crocus, Gardening Naturally, You Garden, Thompson & Morgan, MOOWY, The Grass People, and Lawnsmith, among others.

How this affects what we recommend

It doesn't, and we're honest about why. A bad recommendation breaks reader trust. A site that recommends rubbish products to chase higher commission rates loses its audience within months. The whole business model depends on you finding the recommendations useful enough that you come back.

So we only recommend products we'd genuinely use ourselves. If a higher-commission product is worse than a lower-commission one, we recommend the lower-commission one. If something we've reviewed positively turns out to be a dud after longer-term use, we update or remove the article.

What we don't do

We don't take payment for positive reviews. We don't accept "sponsored content" disguised as editorial. We don't link to products we haven't either used personally or assessed in detail against alternatives. We don't write reviews of products we haven't seen.

If a brand sends us a product to review, we'll say so clearly in the article. Receiving a product to test does not guarantee a positive review.

Disclosure on individual articles

Every article that contains affiliate links carries a disclosure notice near the top. This is required under UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidelines, and we take it seriously regardless of the regulation.
